Happy Easter

I want to wish all of you a very Happy Easter and I hope you are making some wonderful memories with your families. It is truly one of my favorite holidays, and not just because it gives me the opportunity to eat a lot of chocolate and marshmallow Peeps.

My Sister Patty posted an old picture of us kids, and it reminded me of the time my big brother Wade and I told our younger brother Jon we trapped the Easter Bunny in the garage and killed it with a shovel. We thought it was funny until he went into the house crying and told Mom.

I do want to express my gratitude for the true meaning of Easter. I have mentioned in earlier stories how I didn’t really appreciate the significance of Easter until I lost my Angel Shannon. I know every year at Christmas, you always hear “Remember the Reason for the Season.” For myself, I think the same thing applies as much, if not more for Easter. The plan of Salvation is the best gift we could ever receive.

As I move forward with my life, I find myself getting caught up in the daily problems and frustrations of life. There are times I let these things bother me and allow them to grow into larger problems. These are the times I need to remember there is a bigger picture. I need to remind myself of the ultimate sacrifice of our Savior. I need to remember the true blessings of Easter and our Saviors’ unconditional love.

The knowledge that I will be able to be with my Angel Shannon again gives me the courage and strength to move forward. It helps me give the daily problems and frustrations their proper perspective. It allows me to work on becoming the kind of man she can be proud of.

So, Happy Easter to everyone. I know you are all looking forward to your own special reunions. Thank you, Shannon, for helping me appreciate the gift of salvation every day and reminding me “The Reason for the Season.” I will always LOVE AND MISS YOU sweetheart.

Next week: The choice is yours

P.S. I’m not saying I’m getting old, but I’m almost to the point where I can hide my own Easter eggs.
