The Shannon Wilker Foundation Night Out (Part 2)

To pay the proper tribute to this wonderful event, I would need at least three more stories. So, this week, I will try and give you some of the most memorable moments. Once again, a special thanks to all the wonderful vendors and people who helped put this together.

On Wednesday night, we arrived at Kool Beanz for a gourmet dinner provided by Billmans. I was telling the families about the creation of the Foundation and its purpose, when I noticed one of the servers. I knew I’d seen him somewhere, but could not place quite where. “Was it City League basketball? Was it John Deere? Was it the hospital?” When I finished my remarks, he came walking up to me. Then I remembered. It was Kory from Mountain America Credit Union, and I had seen him on the “Pay It Forward” segment on Channel 3. They had selected the Foundation to be the recipient for December. He thanked the Foundation for its service work, and handed me a donation of $500. I was overwhelmed with surprise and gratitude. At that point, Todd Kunz from Channel 3 came up from the back and interviewed myself and some of the families. If you haven’t had a chance to see it, I have posted the link, or you can access it from the KIDK website in the Pay It Forward section.

On Thursday night, we met at Laneige Bridal in the Mall. Everyone looked so beautiful and handsome in their gowns and tuxedos. We were able to see some very pretty Christmas lights, and then we were treated to a delicious meal furnished by Puerta Vallarta. Miss Gate City Ayriss Torres came and talked to us. She explained her duties as Miss Gate City, and how she works with Alzheimer’s patients, and children with special needs. She is an incredible young woman. I can’t thank Chelsea Jensen enough for all her hard work. She made this an incredible evening, and we are talking about some big fund raisers this summer.

But by far the most memorable part of each night, was the opportunity to meet and talk with these strong, inspiring people. They all came up and thanked me, but I want them to know how rewarding is was for me. It filled my heart with warmth and love, and it reminded me how much love and support I receive from my family and friends. Each night, I felt the love and warmth from my Angel Shannon so strong. I will always LOVE AND MISS YOU sweetheart.

Next week: Merry Christmas 2017

P.S. I am in the process of putting together the Shannon Wilker Foundation Family Day. Would you like a hint? Okay, Dutch Oven and Mini-Golf. It’s going to be HUUUGGGEE!
