New Fundraisers

New Fundraisers

Let’s start with something from the “You can’t make this stuff up department.” Two headlines from CNN on the same day.

“Trump’s travel ban likely accelerated the spread of the Coronavirus.” This was according to Bill Gates.

“Studies show the Coronavirus can spread on airlines.”

Okay, let’s start with the first one. I know he’s extremely rich, so please tell me where Bill Gates purchased his medical expertise. Because if I remember correctly, most ordinary people have to go to several years of college to gain that don’t they? So I’m confused by the second headline. If the Coronavirus can spread on the airlines, why is the travel ban responsible for spreading it? That makes as much sense as the guy who named his dog Stay. Because then his commands would be, “Come here, Stay. Come here, Stay.” So next time pick one and run with it. I know that might be difficult for you. You’re like the little kid who has to choose between his two favorite candy bars. But I’m sorry, you can’t have both.

I am so excited to let you know about some amazing fundraisers coming up in October. I received a call from Cody Thomas who has the Run for the Cure event. He told me they were not planning on holding the event this year, but they had 50 people already sign up. So he told me they were going to move forward with it. The Run for the Cure will be at Freeman Park on October 3rd at 8:30am. There will be social distancing observed and they will be providing masks as well. It should be another great event so I encourage everyone that can to sign up. We are still looking for raffle items so if you have anything you would like to donate we would really appreciate it!

I received a call from Amy from Pick Me Up Drinks. She told me they are going to have a promotion for the entire month of October called “Pick Me Up for Breast Cancer Patients.” They are going to donate a portion of all the profits from their four locations. She is working with East Idaho News and from October 1st to the 5th  they are going to have people nominate candidates to receive the support. I will keep you posted on how you can nominate someone, or you can message me directly.

A nurse from Teton Cancer Institute called me to let me know they are doing a fund raiser on October 14th with the Idaho Falls Police canine unit. She explained it wasn’t going to be a public event because of the restrictions so she wasn’t sure how much money they would raise. “We just wanted to do something to help out and we really appreciate all you do,” she said. I thanked her and told her that was great. I asked her to select a family we can help and that I would match their donation up to $250.

I also had a nurse from Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center contact me. She is also a personal fitness trainer at the Apple Athletic Club and every year she holds an event called “Party in Pink” for breast cancer patients. “I got your contact information from Lisa at Teton Cancer Institute. This year I want to donate the proceeds to your Foundation,” she said. She told me she liked the fact the money my Foundation receives helps local cancer patients. I told her how much I appreciate her support. I explained about the fundraisers from Amy and how we were going to have people nominate some patients. “Maybe we could use your donation to help some of the people who are nominated.” I suggested. She thought that was a great idea, so that is what we are going to do.

I am so honored to be part of these amazing events from such great people. I am so grateful for them and for all of you for your generosity and support. Thanks for reading.

Next week: Tri-Cities Trip

P.S. Just to reassure you, I will wear a mask at these events. Partly to protect you from the virus, but mainly so you don’t have to see the Mad Face. Your welcome.
