Adopt-A-Family Shopping 2020

Adopt-A-Family Shopping 2020

Friday was one of my favorite days of the year. It was the annual Adopt-A-Family for Christmas shopping day for the Foundation. This tradition started four years ago it has been one of the days I look forward to all year.

I would like to thank Danielle, Chelle, and Rick from Teton cancer Institute for putting together the families and shopping lists, and for helping do the shopping. I especially want to thank Kristi for helping me with the shopping and for all the support she gives me and the Foundation.

Kristi and I had a family with two young boys and a girl. It was so much fun to be able to go through the toy section and look for gifts. It took me back to the days of shopping for Justin and Ryan. I was so glad Kristi was there to help shop not just for the toys, but for the clothes and items for the young girl. We would run into the other groups, and I could tell how much enjoyment everyone was having putting together the gifts for the families.

I need to say I have had a difficult time getting into the Christmas spirit this year. I’m not sure if it’s because of the Covid Apocalypse, the Presidential election and all the political arguing, or just the general lack of civility in our country that is causing it. I have just wanted it to all be over and hit the reset button for 2021. But the overwhelming feeling of warmth and love in shopping for these families helped change that for me. It reminded me that no matter what is happening or has happened, the best way to change my attitude is to reach out and help someone. I have always found that to be the best way to focus on the positive and it has never let me down.

At this point that I need to tell everyone who has held fundraisers, collected donations, and contributed funds to the Foundation that none of this would happen without your generosity, compassion, and support. I owe you all a big thank you for every ounce of the Foundation’s success. Thanks for reading.

Next week: It’s getting closer

P.S. Another good thing about this day is I have found something I am good at. I am really good at shopping with someone else’s money. Your exactly right, I am talented.
