Fun with Jayci

Fun with Jayci

Let me start this week’s story by sharing an old Rodney Dangerfield joke. “I asked my Dad to take me to the zoo. He said, If they want you, they’ll come and get you.” That is the lead into our day with Jayci. Kristi and I had told Jayci, the next time we had her, we would take her to the zoo. It had been a long time since Kristi and I had been to the zoo, so we were both looking forward to taking her.

When we arrived at the zoo, Jayci told us she would lead the way. She headed straight for the penguins, and then we made our way to the snow leopard and lion cages. It was so fun watching the expressions on little Jayci’s face as she guided us through the zoo. When we got to the monkey exhibit, Jayci had so much fun waving at them and watching them come up to the glass where she was. She had the biggest smile on her face. I think my favorite part was watching her with the otters as they swam by the glass. We had such an enjoyable time.

After the zoo, it was time for lunch. Jayci wanted to go to Chick-Fil-A. But since the last four times we went to Chick-Fil-A, we convinced Jayci to go to Panda Express instead. Kristi asked for chopsticks, so Jayci decided she would as well. As for myself, I have a hard enough time with a fork. It was so cute watching Jayci using the chopsticks. Eventually, they became more of a spear, than chopsticks.

From there we went to watch the movie DC League of Super Pets. Normally I have a strict policy when it comes to buying theater candy. I refuse to pay 4 dollars for a box of candy that I can get at WinCo for 98 cents. But when Jayci wants a bag of Sour Patch Kids, and gives me the little puppy dog eyes, I cave in like a house of cards. The movie was really cute, and we all enjoyed it. It was sweet to listen to Jayci giggle throughout the movie.

From there we went back to the house, where Kristi and Jayci went downstairs to play with the Polly Pocket Dolls. Kristi and Jayci have so much fun together, and it is so sweet to listen to them play. I am so happy for the bond they have together. When they were done playing with the Polly Pocket dolls, they brought up the Lego basketball game and we played with that. It was a lot of fun, except there is no way to foul your opponent!

When Brittney came and picked up Jayci, we told her how much fun we had. We told her it was hard to believe that Jayci will start pre-school this year. We are so proud of Brittney, and what a terrific Mom she is. We are always happy to spend time with her and Jayci.

It is days like this that remind me how fast time goes by and how important it is to appreciate these times and keep them in your heart. Thanks for reading.

Next week: Back to School

P.S. I was accused of pulling faces at Jayci, so I was put in “Time-Out.” Oh yeah, Jayci was the one that put me in “Time-Out.”
