October Fundraiser Update
Okay, before we start, another excerpt from the “You can’t make this stuff up department.” I was in the checkout line at the Dollar Store behind a lady that decided to pay for her $10 worth of items with change from her purse. She would put all the quarters back in her purse and was strictly counting out all the dimes and nickels. I felt so sorry for the cashier because she had no choice but to wait for this lady as they line behind me started to grow. Not sure why the other employee standing by the balloons couldn’t help checkout, but that’s a different rant for a different day. The lady turned and looked at the line a few times, and evidently didn’t feel the need to apologize for taking so long. When the lady left the store, I noticed she got into a really nice BMW, so it’s not like she was down to her last bit of change. I told the cashier she did a great job with the customer and she thanked me. When the cashier rang up my $5.30 worth of items, I asked her if I could pay in pennies. I thought she was going to start crying. I immediately told her I was joking, and she let out a sigh of relief. Yes I know. I’m hilarious.
I need to thank the following people who held fundraisers for the Foundation. I hope I don’t leave anyone out, but if I do, please know how grateful I am for your support. Cody & Salem Thomas, and Doug & Cheyenne Swanson for the Run for the Cure event. Lorita Kahn for the Gandolfos event. Sheandi Richins for the Zumba party at the Apple Athletic Club. Tyrell & Cigee Thorngren for the Snake River BMX event. Mark & Trish Chapple for selling cancer awareness t-shirts. And especially Amy & Zach Martin for the very successful month long Pick Me Up Drink fundraiser. Thank you all so very much!
When I first started this Foundation, the objective and purpose was simple. All the money it raises will go directly to local cancer patients and their families. The one common message I heard from all of these people was they chose the Foundation for that reason. I am so happy for the growth of the Foundation. I cannot find the appropriate words to express my appreciation and gratitude to everyone for making this possible. I want to reiterate that I will never take credit for the money, because it is not my money. I am humbled and honored that you allow me the blessing and opportunity to get your money to the families that need it.
I am happy to report with some of the funds we were able to get five families a check for $1,000 each. If you know a family that needs some assistance, please contact me so we can get these funds to the families that could use some help. Thanks for reading.
Next week: Moving forward
P.S. I promise the assistance will be in the form of a check, not pennies.
