My New Job Begins
I am very excited to start my new job as the Dealer Development Consultant for the Far West Equipment Dealer Association (FWEDA). I am looking forward for this new opportunity. I officially start on the first of August, but I have agreed to fly into Sacramento on Monday and go around and meet with some dealers this week.
They sent me a list of all the dealers in California which included current members of the association as well as dealers that are prospects to become members. I decided to start with the dealers around the Sacramento area and put together groups of dealers geographically. This turned out to be a bigger task than I thought it would be. Let’s just say that Google maps and myself are good friends now.
I am looking forward to getting back into the daily operations of a dealership and finding ways to help them. I am excited to work with dealership department managers and help them identify opportunities for growth and improvement. I understand this will require a lot of time and commitment to make this job successful, but I am looking forward to the challenge and can’t wait to build some great relationships.
For the most part, I will be traveling in areas that are more rural than the bigger cities. I am concerned about California rush hour traffic, so I will try to avoid the bigger cities at certain times of the day. That is one thing about the job that causes me a little concern, but I am confident it won’t be that big of an issue.
I want to thank Joani and the board of FWEDA for this opportunity and I am looking forward to helping their dealerships and the association grow and be successful. Thanks for reading.
Next week: Details from the trip
P.S. My system for dealing with California traffic is easy. I will simply remind myself, “It’s not Utah, It’s not Utah, It’s not Utah.”
