Crusade Against Cancer 2024 Part Two
This year was the 7th annual Crusade Against Cancer, and it was a great success. I want to thank Larry, Robin, and Nate for helping put all the race bags together on Saturday. It was a big job, and I would have been totally sunk if they would not have been there to help.
There were so many people who worked extremely hard to make this an incredible event that I don’t dare try to name them all in case I miss someone. Please know how grateful Kristi and I are to all of you and cannot say enough good things about your generosity and selflessness.
I want to thank all of our sponsors. This event is difficult to put together and promote, and it would not be the success it is without their sponsorship and support. It always gives me a feeling of warmth and satisfaction when they tell me they love to sponsor the event because they know the money is going to help our community.
This year Kristi had an idea for something else we should do. Kristi said, “Hey, we should add a dunk tank and then people could pay to dunk you!” Well, I replied like any normal husband would. I looked her straight in the eye and said, “Yes, Dear!” I must admit, the dunk tank was a huge success.
We added some water blasters to the race bags this year so people could have a water fight if they wanted. I brought some extra water blasters, and I noticed there were a bunch of kids standing around watching the dunk tank. I said, “Hey, I have some extra water blasters if you kids want some.” I had ten kids follow me over to get the water blasters. Then, I had ten kids with water blasters squirt me! I really should have thought that through.
It was a great event, and we were able to provide some substantial assistance to some local families. This is the part I love the most about the event. Now we begin the planning for next year, so if you have some ideas you want to present, please contact me or Kristi. Even though she doesn’t really need any help!
